architecture and design
Rogue Designs is a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Oxford, founded by designers Charlotte Holmes and Paul Turner, and focussed primarily on architectural and design services. Originally graduates from Oxford University and Winchester School of Art respectively, we joined forces to create Rogue Designs back in 2001, and have have enjoyed building up a wonderful body of work and experience ever since. Our projects are diverse in scale and type, we’ve designed artist’s studios and masterplans for rural estates. We work with architecture and design projects ranging from full scale restoration and renovations of country homes, to reconfiguring private residences, to designing clubs and restaurants!
Typically we act as the ‘project designers’, interpreting your requirements from the first stage of the design process, and conducting a feasibility study to establish the scope and shape, and creative direction of the project, and subsequently building the appropriate team around it to make it all happen.
We offer space planning, design and architectural services including full plans submissions, permitted developments and building regulations submissions and construction drawings for extensions, new builds and refurbishments including listed buildings and period property renovation. Detailed interior design, exterior and garden design, kitchen and bathroom design, lighting design, sourcing of furniture, artwork consultancy, bespoke furniture design and associated project management services throughout the design phases through construction and to completion.
Each project will have it’s own tailor-made package of services based on the scale of the project and your requirements.
what we do
We cover a wide range of design elements, understanding the different requirements across the design field from commercial to residential work, bespoke commissions and consultancy. From period home to new build, we will find the personality of your property and bring the best out of it for you! We design from an artistic perspective, relishing new challenges and interesting schemes, but importantly to us we make homes with our clients, working with them to achieve a harmonious balance between aesthetics, personality and comfort.
We work closely with all of our clients, relishing the dialogue, communication and interaction and engagement. We want the end result to be unique, well-designed buildings, which reflect something about the people we work with.
who we work with
We are privileged to work with some really fantastic architects and engineers. We are so happy to have built up great working relationships with skilled craftsmen and trusted tradespeople along with some of Oxfordshire's finest building contractors, so fulfilling the construction or delivery of design work from concept through to the finished article is always a pleasure and offers yet a further level of confidence for our clients.
A part of our drive is to showcase and introduce our clients to new works; makers and designers of furniture, lighting or fabric for example. This is achieved by our research and passion for some of the beautiful work we see around us. This is often exciting for all concerned and historically has created strong bonds for future commissions.
We employ a principle of respect to every aspect of our work; respecting the sincerity of the design; respecting heritage and the value of building / land; respecting all involved in the project; and respecting the environment. We believe that the most successful projects come from having a committed team working co-operatively towards common goals.
Creating buildings leads to long relationships, we aim to generate a collaborative spirit at all times, whether during feasibility studies or to achieve planning; right through to site stages working closely with contractors, suppliers and craftsmen. A strong testament to the success of this approach is the regular repeat work with many of our clients.
our environmental policy
We embrace the opportunity to minimise the environmental impact of each project and incorporate sustainability measures in all our work. We want our work to be built to last. We are always seeking to research and implement sustainable technology and aim to operate a low waste policy, and mitigate harm to the environment. We never see this as a constraint; it’s an opportunity to explore the natural world and bring that into our designs, and it’s an exciting time to be in construction with a raft of new technologies to implement, and an incredible depth of history for craft and historical techniques which can be deployed in new and innovative ways.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our service and will always aim to create a fantastic experience for our client.
